Camera database for the Alpine Blackbird?

Anyone know where I can get a database of camera locations for the Alpine Blackbird?

It uses the Navteq database - does that make it easier?

That's an new one on me, do you know if it actually supports custom POIs? We need to know what format it uses, we have a wide range and one of our existing formats may work.

The manual for the Blackbird can be found here:

Looking at it, you can see on Page 28 that you can enter Personal POI's but there are no details on format. Would it be standardised for the Navteq database (same as Nuvi perhaps?) or am I being naive!?

Don't think the manual will tell you much though - didn't seem to really give guidance on that.

It's funny, this weekend i was trying to discover the exact same thing for my brother who has just got the Alpine Blackbird.
At the time I could not find any indication anywhere about loading custom POI's. I did notice that the accompanying SD card had Alpines own speed cameras loaded, in a format I did not recognise. Then earlier this morning I read a post on another forum that said it was possible to load CSV format data to the unit, but thats all that was said, the post gave no indication as to how you go about loading the data.
What I now suspect is that you create a folder on your the SD card and give this folder a appropriate name (i.e Pubs) and into this folder load a .CSV table of the POI's you what to add, this can be done by using a card reader or just connecting the Blackbird to your PC via USB cable and have the PC recognise the unit as a Mass Storage device.
Next go to the main menu on the GPS by touching the square symbol top right of the screen, then select EDIT and then ADD POI's.
Unfortunately I myself can not test this now as my brother has the unit and is away on business for a couple of weeks. If this works for you please let us know.

You can get the speed camera database on the Blackbird via the custom POI feature.

I've deleted your link, bad form to post links to competitors.

We offer a camera database that is we believe far superior to the one you linked to but theirs is cheaper. We're also 100% open about our methods and our data and offer lifetime subscriptions for qualifying reports.

Your choice of course and whilst we're fairly laid back we do draw the line at using our forums to advertise for them!

sorry if you mis-understood my post, I know you can get the Alpines SCDB on the Alpine, loading via the SD card. In short what I tried to say is that I have read that the Alpine accepts file formats of the .CSV type. If a custom data base is loaded onto the SD card in .CSV form, you may be able to then import from the SD on to the GPS unit.
