|

HI.
I have a 510 and the maps are out of date, its £40 for uk and £60 for europe maps, but will these enable map share and give 1 year free updates.
If not and they update the maps every qtr as they say they do , then i may as well just get a brand new One v3 that has map share and 1 years free updates.
or am i missing something here? |

A tomtom GO 510 with the latest version 7 software and with map version 6.75 or later can use mapshare.
The one year free updates that you refer to allows you to download minor changes made to your map by other users via mapshare. It does not give you free new maps for a year.
The current map version for sale is 7.20 and the version 7 software is available as a free upgrade. |

Ok thanks.
Im running app 7.162, but maps are v650.1110
There have been so many major road changes , like the sheppy bridge , and the new motorway section around Gravesend and the Dartford Tunnel that i just wanted my unit updated.Anyone know if the mapshare would allow me to add these in, or if maps 7.20 cover the changes
Many thanks |

Hi
Mapshare will not update roads ie:- add in new roads or round abouts, it only allows alterations to one way streets, street names, speed limits and the like. For new roads you need to buy new maps, even then map data can be at least a year old.

Have a look at Google maps, they use the same Teleatlas map data as tomtom. If the road is wrong on Google maps it will be wrong on the tomtom maps. If the road is shown correctly on Google maps it should be correct on the next release of tomtom maps (and will probably be correct on the current release).
I don't know the roads that you mention well enough to say if they are correctly shown or not. |

Many Thanks Anita for that.
Thankyou pcaouolte , i checked google maps, and the bridge is there, but all the major road works on the A2 between gravesend and the m25/a2 interchange is in the stages of being built. Its operational now so I will hold off getting a new map until thats done as the changes made are major ones. |

Take it from me, you will seriously regret it if you drop your 510 in favour of a One v3 - not a patch on the 510! _________________ Dennis
