nuvi 250W adding maps

I have a nuvi 250w and wonder if I can use it in the USA when we travel through 6 states there later this year.

Can I add USA maps?

I dont really understand the SD card slot ... is that like extra memory to add ? Is that how I would add maps? and where from?

Yes - you can add maps.

YOu need to buy them from Garmin, go to their website www.garmin.co.uk and under the MAPS tab you should be able to find what you need. It's City Navigator North America NT. I think you can buy them on SD card - which will probably save you a lot of hassle if you aren't familiar with using them.

It's not going to be inexpensive though. The web site shows a cent under $100 for USA. Also it says for domestic US only - so you may have to find a retailer in UK - which will probably be more. If you are visitinf friends/relatives in USA you could get them to purchase it for you I suppose - or even buy one when you get there.

I did wonder about getting my friends in the USA to buy the sd card - that will probably work out as the least expensive way of doing it ...

Do you happen to know what the difference between the NT and V 8 are ... I cant seem to check online which one is definitely compatible with the 250 W .
