I have noticed that the directional operation of the Red Light Warning doesnt work to well. By this I mean that I am getting warnings of Red Light Cameras that are not active for my direction of travel. Anything I ca do about this?

The TomTom doesn't support directional warnings so you will get warnings of cameras in either direction, the only feature it does have is for the "Warn only if POI on route" if this is selected and you have a route planned it will only warn of cameras on your side of the road if you are on a duel carriageway or motorway - Mike

I do have "Warn only if POI on route" selected, yet I still get the odd warning for red light cameras not on my route. For example, I got a warning for red light camera 9517@40 (single direction 270) whilst travelling northbound over the junction. Is there something wrong in the database?

nothing wrong in the database, but as mike said, tomtom cannot make use of the directional data.

In fact, newer versions of TomTom's software have got WORSE at ignoring cameras on the other carriageway.

It seems to be that if there is any way through to the other side within a certain distance, that messes it up too. So for Redlights, where there is often a crossover/junction, it's very likely to false-alarm.

Until TomTom decide to implement directional information for POIs it's not going to get any better, but I can't see them doing that if it makes the competitors' superior camera databases even more impressive than their own.

Thanks Guys. I am slowly beginning to understand the workings of Sat Nav and camera detection. Wink
