As per the title...

This is not for me, I prefer my TT Go 720.

But my mate is wanting to spend somewhat less. I've tried telling him to spend the little extra for a lot more, but it's beyond his budget.

So he has seen a NavMan S50 for around £108, or alternatively, a Harman Kardon GPS500 for £80.

I believe the NavMan S50 has Bluetooth Handsfree Function, but that's about all I know.

So can I invite comments from owners of either of these units as to their views and experience please?

In particular, the tick box list, aside from whether you think your device is good or not is specifically does it have...

    BlueTooth Handsfree?
FM Navigation Output to Car Radio?
Computer Voices (thus proper street names etc) or just recorded directions?
    MP3 music?
Speed Cameras - is it easy for him to purchase and use the DB from here, or is extra money also needed for something like POI Warner to get them onto these two devices?
Map Updates - is this possible, how often, and how much?

Additionally, please feel free to add any other specific features each unit might include, or glaring omissions they might not have.

Thanks in advance hopefully for your help everyone, and your excellent knowledge etc.

With that proposed shortlist, and the requirements expected from the device I would seriously tell him to save up for a few more weeks and widen his horizons.
Navman have a POI problem handling the speed camera database and a poor track record for upgrades to new software and associated functionality.
I have no knowledge of the HK kit, but the old adage "you pays for what you get" springs to mind, if it is that heavily discounted, one should ask why? - Mike

Ah no Mike, it wasn't a short-list of requirements - it was a TICK LIST of whether ANY of those features AT ALL were on either.

Apologies if I gave the wrong impression.

TBH I am surprised at that price, that the NavMan even has BT handsfree.

But given the pleasant surprise it doe,s the only way I may find any other surprises, if any at all, is by asking *Laughing Out Loud*

So, hope this clarifies. I expect virtually NONE of those things.

But happy to be surprised by ANY, not ALL *Laughing Out Loud*

As an additional point folks, he is not restricting himself to ANY models - these are just two he has text me about so far.

So I would welcome views on ANY OTHER models too, fro around £115 or under, that might be better for him.
