Hi
I bought a Trumpion Tr101 which was loaded with TomTom 6 from e-bay (I know, I goofed)
My problem is that it has been working fine until the other day when i was away. Whilst waiting for my wife to come back from the shop i decided to remove some of the poi's since then i have been unable to lock onto a satellite, it always states no GPS devices. I have even tried resetting default settings but to no avail. Can anyone tell me what i have done & how to rectify it.
Thanks in advance |

The "Waiting for valid GPS signal" implies that it has connected to your GPS receiver and is still waiting for a lock.
Is the unit outside with a clear view of the sky?
If you can get to the satellite status page is the tiny black/yellow circle spinning?
Removing POIs shouldn't be a problem but the best way to do this is to unselect the category.
Can you remember what files you deleted if any?
Of course the crunch comes when you have to re-install the s/w. Did you get the original installation kit together with the unlock codes?
Unfortunately there are a lot of 'dodgy' PDA with TomTom sales on eBay. _________________ Phil |

- does this mean that is is not able to find or open the GPS serial port (or is it trying to open the wrong port), or does it mean the GPS is not working and finding satalites.
You will need to know this answer before spending any more time on the problem. Install Winfast navigator (Free download, links elsewhere on this forum), as it makes it possible to find out whts going on. Once you have Winfast reporting a GPS fix, note down the serial port and baud rate, close it down an open you Navigation app. Set the nav app to the same and off you go. |

Installing TomTom on the Medion 210T (uses the same OS) had the same problem.

It could see the GPS reciever, but never recieved a valid satellite signal
You may end up putting the original Route 66 back on the unit.
Unfortunately Trumpion have very recently removed the complete installation download from their website (www.trumpion.co.uk)
I have a copy of the download, but it's 1.3GB so not easy to send to you |

Hi eddiecuk, try this
1) Press the main navigation screen to enter the main menu.
2) Press "Change Preferences"
3) Press "Show GPS Status"
4) Press "Configure"
5) Select "Other NMEA GPS reciever"
6) Set GPS baud rate to "4800"
7) Set GPS is connected to: "Com1:"
In the bottom left of the main navigation screen it should now read "Waiting for a valid GPS signal..."
It can take up to 5 minutes for the unit to correctly lock on to the satellites.
Also some units are far more sensitive for others.
My Trumpion works anywhere e.g. in planes, through Athermic windscreens, in the middle of my house etc.
My TomTom Go 910's reception is crap in comparison to the Trumpion and struggles to get a good reception at the best of times
If in the bottom left of the main navigation screen it reads "No GPS signal" then usually the baud rate or Com port is set incorrectly.
I hope this helps _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |
