Just picked up my uncles Go 300 to update and TomTom Home doesn't want to update it - tried multiple machines etc.

Anyway, when I made manual backup, noticed that there's always an error copying files over, and also, there's a FOUND.000 folder with scandisk recovered file fragments in it.

So, seems to me like I need to start from fresh with it, has anyone got a backup? I don't think he has any (changed all his machines and its been a while since touching his TT)

Thanks

Ps, dont need the maps, just the rest of the files (as I'm not sure exactly whats missing) - SD Card is 128 with maps, so whole backup needn't be more than 30mb - v5 on there atm, but will be updating to 7, so dont matter which vers you have.

Problem sorted - TT Home 2 was too new for it and so had to use older one first.

Looks like i'm gonna need to get him a new SD Card in order to update.

You could free up some space on the unit by deleting some of the voice files. These reside in the "Voices" folder the UK based ones are:

data04.chk which is TM
data04.vif
data05.chk
which is Jane
data05.vif
data06.chk
which is Ken (Aus)
data06.vif
data07.chk
which is Lori (US)
data07.vif
data08.chk
which is Bonnie (US)
data08.vif
data09.chk
which is Richard (US)
data09.vif

Copy the contents of the voices folder to the PC (so you can put them back on the device if need be) then keeping the files above delete the remainder, this will free up some space then you can try the upgrade again - Mike

Already got rid of the excess voices, Laughing Out Loud

Never mind, he's decided to get a new map anyway, so will stick a 2GB card in, incase he ever wants to go Europe or USA with large maps.
