|
|
I downloaded new start up image and a new shutdown image. The TomTom picks only one of those images and uses it to start up as well as shut down. How do you get it to use different images on start up and shut down? By the way, I have the 720. |

The startup image is called splash, and the shutdown image is called suspend, have you named BOTH images splash? Just re-name the shutdown one to suspend. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav |

Maybe the European 720's are different from here in North america where the startup is called splashw.bmp and the shutdown is antitheftw.bmp |

European models are the same, dhn...
All widescreen TomToms have the "w" at the end of the splashscreen names.
And the shutdown screen in v7 software is called "antitheft.bmp" or "antitheftw.bmp" (not "suspend" anymore).
Finally, to show the shutdown screen, you need to set the option "warn not to leave the device in the car", which is the last option on the first page of "Safety Preferences". |

Guess what? Tried putting on a different shut down screen today and no matter what I rename it, (antitheftw.bmp or suspendw.bmp or antitheft.bmp or suspend.bmp the only image that comes up is my start up image , which is splashw.bmp. I have the 720 and live in United States. |

And you've got the option ticked that I mentioned above?

"antitheftw.bmp" is the right name, and it does need to be an actual .bmp format (not just a jpg renamed!) at 480 x 272 pixels exactly. |

Try one of the original startup screens from http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&query=startup+screen&FID=4617
Rename it to "antitheftw.bmp" and put it in the root of the TT internal memory (ie not in any folder and not on an SD card)
Double check it hasn't got called antitheftw.bmp.bmp by accident. In order to see if this has happened, you MUST have Windows set to show the file extensions (usually it tries to hide them).
In Windows Explorer Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"
Alternatively, If you put the original back, does that work? If it does, you'll know it is the format of your new pic. |

Andy, it took awhile but I tried everything you said and double and triple checked. My start up is named splashw.bmp and that works fine. My shutdown is named antitheftw.bmp and does not come on at shut down. My start up pic comes on at both start up and shut down. Both are 480x272 pixels. No double file extensions. |
