i am trying to download speed cameras for first time, using a mac os x 10.5 / i get a error message unable to unarchive pgpsw-speed-cams-xxxx.zip. into download folder. please help

You must have missed the warning on our download page:

The error is caused because OS X tries to use the built-in 'archive.app' to un-compress the files. archive.app isn't a fully featured archive utility and is unable to de-compress the .zip archives our system creates.

The good news is that both Stuffit Expander and unarchiver (both free downloads) are much better utilities:
Stuffit Expander
Unarchiver
Download and install one of the above (I use Stuffit). The only drawback is that Safari will still try to use the built-in archive.app, just ignore the error, locate the downloaded file, right-click and select 'Open with -> Stuffit"to extract the downloaded files.

I agree with Darren. Stuffit Expander is good. I've recently been using Firefox as my main browser and it defaults to Stuffit to open the .zip files with no problem. I'm running 10.5.2 on a Mac Mini.

thanks for the help, discovered i needed to drag and drop the zip file into the stuffit expander
