I am considering purchasing CoPilot Live 7 to replace my current Destinator 6.
Does anyone know of any reviews that have been published of CoPilot Live 7.
Do Pocket GPS World intend to do a review? _________________ Dave R (h5djr)

We will have a review available early in the New Year. It's very good and a worthy competitor for TomTom who have not even committed to a v7 replacement for PocketPC as yet. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Pardon me? As we only received retail copies a few weeks before December you are quite wrong. It will be reviewed in full this month. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Given the review was written in October 2007 (hardly a very long time) and states:
"The CoPilot package I received from ALK Technologies was a pre-release review package and so I cannot comment on the final retail packaging."
I'd much rather Darren & Co reviewed a finished product, especially since there were initial issues with regard to the actual 'Live' section of it (now fixed). |

most pre-release item state that they should not be used for review as they may not accurately reflect the finished product... much better to review what people will be buying!

Indeed, we were specifically asked not to publish a review of the pre-release software. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have been using the released version for few weeks now and I can tell you its totally rubbish - nothing apart from user interface seems to have changed. Its always crashing, freezing. I have decided to uninstall it and go back to Tomtom which works without any problem on my Treo 750. |

Sorry to hear that, we've been using it here for the last few weeks and the universal opinion is that it is much improved and very worthy of consideration. _________________ Darren Griffin

Not seen a single crash or freeze here since installing shortly after official release. |

No problems here.
Much faster than version 6 - especially at re-routing. |

Hi
i too have been trying copilot 7 out and agree it is a great improvement over version 6.
Tend to feel TT6 still wins out though for being
more user friendly
easier POI management,
advance planning options
favourites management
keeping back ups of your setup
themes
Cheers.... |

Sorry to hear at your problems. I was having very similar problems with my Destinator 6 on my iPaq 4700 - often freezing and sometimes crashing - until I had the memory upgraded. Since then not a single freeze or crash. _________________ Dave R (h5djr)

Since using Co Pilot live 7 I have had no crashes of freezes at all.
I was initially disappointed that Live didn't work, but as has been said ALK have issued an update to fix that. I am surprised however that it's not listed as a general update on their suport web site.
It seems to get the update details from Alk you have to have opened a support case.
I am also disappointed that Text to Speech wasn't in the released version, and as yet there are no dates for it's release, though they hinted end of 2006.
Apart from that it's very good. |
