|
|
I contacted tomtom yesturday after i reported my screen would freeze on welcome screen, he emailed me instructions to update root files. I needed to delete all root files on tomtom but leave the folders then tomtom home would update and install updated root files.
This did not work and im now totally stuck, is it possible to find these files elsewhere? So i can just paste them on my SD card?
I have tried absolutley everything |

Any instructions I've seen regarding deleting files from the root folder start with making a backup.
Full instructions were pasted here.
If you used Home to backup, the files should be under C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Backups\GO if you haven't changed it from defaults. _________________ Gerry

It would give us some idea of where the problem might be. _________________ Richard

when i connected to home it would then search for updates then come back with a message "must not be empty".
How would the backup help if the files are no good anyway?

Have a look Here.
There is also an older version for the ONE if you want to try it.

I just removed the loose files not the folders (or the contents).
Just really annoying me now,
Cheers |

If you download the V6.560 for the ONE, on the page I linked to, you can copy the Files to the Device using Explorer. There is a Read Me in the Zip File.
HOME should then offer to update this to the latest version for you. _________________ Richard

Do i need a file called "current map data"?
Its really winding me up... should I just leave it with tomtom customer service to help? |

Rather than just saying "still no joy", it will really help if you say what exactly you did and what exactly went wrong. Speeds the diagnosis up when we can't see what you're doing!
If I read it correctly, Oldboy is asking you to download a set of system files from his website and to paste those onto your TomTom using windows Explorer.
The version for the One (v6.560) doesn't have the file you mention. Just do as he suggests (and as the text file says) and report back. |

i done as suggested but ttone still didnt get past the welcome screen, even on the home updates i just got the application update and camera updates.... still freezing on welcome screen.
I thought "current map data" was one of the rquired files to enable the tomtom to work, i may well be wrong though
Thanks in advance |

With the replacement file set on the device, if it isn't booting up fully have you tried pressing and holding the reset button for thirty seconds, then switch back on see what it does? - Mike |

Can you paste a list of what files you now have on your device? (be nice to have folder names too, but no need to list contents of folders.
A handy utility called "DriveZ" can produce listings, to save you having to type it all out yourself. Just make sure it is set to show the file extensions. |
