I can't be alone in wanting a robust handheld with a 3.5"+ screen, GPS built in, running full Windows Mobile PPC version to allow use of any (mapping) software, without a phone or camera built in, but with a decent battery life?
Satmap Active 10 is almost there (I know some would argue about the battery life), but for the Win CE operating system, and the fact you have to 're-buy' all your mapping for it. |

You're certainly not alone but this is a niche market and the risks in bringing a suitable device to market are considerable!
It's a numbers game, there are not sufficient numbers of potential customers to justify the risk. There are rugged hand-helds with GPS available but at considerable cost 2k+! _________________ Darren Griffin |

I realise it's expensive to go super-rugged - I'm just thinking something in the PPC line more like a Garmin / Magellan handheld than the usual flimsy offering. |

As I said, the Satmap is nearly there, but the numbers add up in such a way that they have to impose their own software via the Win CE OS.
Given the leaps and bounds in this sort of kit over the last couple of years, we must be relatively close to someone bringing the right product to the marketplace? |
