Hey,

I've just bought a TomTom one 3rd edition and updated it with tomtom's speed camera database.

Would I have any advantages having pocket gps database over TomToms?

Thanks in advance Smile

The PGPSW database is more accurate and more up-to-date. Do you need any more advantages?

Just wanted that confirmed mainly, thank you! Very Happy

Putting the Pocket GPS database onto the TomTom, do I turn off the tomtom database? or have them both running?

Will pay for it very soon Smile

Accuracy is about the largest difference these days, if you want to trust a sub standard product for speed camera warnings fine, but from what I have tried the TT offering is somewhat lacking a recent 7 mile drive produced a few false alerts (where there have never been cameras) and worse still no alerts for long established cameras - the offering from this site is spot on across the country, with a huge membership notifying of new cameras and a trusted team of verifiers to independently check submissions prior to inclusion - Mike

I took my time answering that one (not)

I would try it with both camera databases setup to start with then you can comment on the levels of accuracy in your local area, something we like to hear about from time to time, when you have made up your mind that the one from this site is superior you can remove the TomTom files from the map folder - Mike

Also with the PGPS cams you get all the different types of cameras but with TomTom you need a mobile phone with a wireless data connection to get their mobile cameras which are very poor. Also you get a chance to recieve a lifetime subscription with PGPS if you are the first to report any change in a camera i.e installed, removed, change of speed etc. You also get access to all the forums and downloads with PGPS and there is up to 2000,000 POI's to choose from and download for your own use. Also with TomTom your camera subscription is tied to one machine were as with PGPS you can download the cameras for all satnav units in that household.

Well, TomTom's latest free offering includes the 50mph roadworks signs for the new farmer's bridge over the M4 just east of Junction 17 - from around June 2006. I dunno when that finished and the cameras were removed. Anybody got any idea when our Temp:21289@50 and 20828@50 were removed? (I know I verified the removals, but have no idea when - before living memory, probably).
