I am going to Ireland in a few months time and I want to prepare my TomTom Nav v6 for driving journey

I have two maps from Tomtom website and I have the following:

GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE
UK and IE plus major roads of WE

However I am having a hard time with working out which is the latest map.

I will need the map of Dublin and also Belfast area.

Can anyone please advise?

Thanks,

Tony

Have a look in the directory of each one and look for the .pna file. Look inside it using Notepad and you will get a three digit number on the third line, then build=xxxx on the fourth line. The bigger the numbers, the newer the maps. Be advised that newer doesn't always mean better, though.

Thanks for that. I see this:

GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE - 1204
UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE - 1409

So I guess UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE is new.

Thanks. Smile

The group of three is important, too. I guess your newer one is 675.1409. Is the other one something like 660.1204? If so, the 675 is definitely newer.

BUT Everybody swears blind that the v660 was better - certainly in some places there is more detail (even roads) than on the later map. If you are able to do so, I'd advise you to actually run both maps and look for places you want to go to - I'll swear somebody said Eire was badly treated by v675. I'm old and sad, so I could be having a Senior memory moment. Embarassed

GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE - 652 - 1204
UK_and_IE_plus_major_roads_of_WE - 675 -1409

So the 2nd map is the newer one.
