520 battery how long?

Just upgraded to a 520 from a 510, the 510 battery used to last 3 to 4 hrs. So far the 520 has lasted about 40 mins on the first two uses. Only thing that is on is bluetooth. Should it get better with more charges? or is this the norm, if it is it's not very good! Sad

I would expect more than that duration on the battery to be honest, the type of cell employed in the x20 will get to full capacity after 6 or 7 charges.
Are you sure the device is fully charged though? leave it plugged in over night for a true full charge, and to be honest I would use the car charger lead while the device is in use. We have seen certain problems reported from users when the battery charge becomes depleted - Mike

Thanks, unfortunately as you only get a usb charger it'll have to be for 6 hrs which should be sufficient.

I checked the battery indicator not long before and it was on at least 50%, interesting that you don't get the low capacity warning as you did with the 510, all of a sudden a yellow/green screen flashed up and it shuts down Exclamation

Gave it a good charge Sunday lasted approx 2 1/2 hrs, much better. Interestingly (or annoyingly) there is no battery warning indicator as on the 510, checked battery indicator, showed approx 50% speed camera warning went of, bright yellow screen with something on it then shuts off.

Got a usb mains charger off ebay for £3 much better than having to hook up to a pc or the £25 TT want for a charger.

Supposed to be 4-5 hours "normal" use. Having either Bluetooth or FM transmitter running reduces it by quite a bit.
Also, any USB charger will charge slower than the dedicated car charger.

TomTom agreed that it should not shutdown at 50% battery left and told me to take it back for a replacement, which I have today. Let's hope this one's ok.
