|
|
I've got a Medion Pocket PC (its a MD41800 - MDPPC250) with Navigator 3.1 software.
I only use it occasionally and am forever having to reload the software and re-initiallise the receiver because the battery (s) have gone flat. The last time I used it I was getting a message that I was picking up 0 GPS's which usually happens when it initallises. However, despite leaving it connected for an hour or so it didn't pick up any satellites.
Is there anything i can do or do I need another receiver?
Thanks.

Devices of that vintage did not store information is flash ram and so if the battery was allowed to go flat a reload was necessary.
The only answer is to ensure you keep it charged up or buy a later device. PocketPC based devices that are on-sale now do not suffer this limitation as all data is stored in flash ram and is retained even if the battery runs flat. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren
Despite the limitations of the way that the Pocket PC stores data, do you think there is something fatally wrong with my receiver when it does not pick up any satelilte signals, despite being switched on for an hour.
I had re-loaded the software and it appeared to be working normally, other than not picking up the signal.

It could be a hardware issue but without knowing more it's impossible to say with any certainty.
You could try installing a test application such as Winfast navigator or GPS Viewer to test the receiver? _________________ Darren Griffin |
