Oh Paul. I've POIloaded pgpsw cameras on my new Nuvi and was going to see how the two compare, now you've ruined it for me!! _________________ Dennis

Customisable?......
presumably your poi files would overwrite theirs, or would i have to mess about deleting theirs? |

As a babe in arms with Garmin Nuvi 660FM (two days "experience"), I think the customisable bit is as you do the business with POIloader and I'd guess it's only ALL cameras having the same customisation. Whereas with a TomTom device, you can customise every single camera type exactly as you want it, e.g. 30mph fixed camera warned at 300 yards, using whichever sound you like OR a spoken warning which says "Warning, gatso ahead, speed limit 30 miles an hour" - different distance and "sound" for every camera type/speed.
In POIloading the pgpsw cameras to my Nuvi, I loaded them onto my SD card, so they won't have harmed Garmin's cameras on the internal memory (I hope, because I'm hoping to compare the two sets). Whilst doing this, I noted that the Garmin speed cameras are called speed cameras, whereas the pgpsw cameras are treated as custom POIs, so I assume they will not overwrite the Garmin ones. _________________ Dennis

The PGPSW ones will not overwrite the Garmin ones which will need to be disabled to avoid duplicate alerts.
Customisable - depending on your model you can use mp3 sounds for alerts (instead of "bong bong") and use programs like Ash10's Camera Updater to customise the alert distance. You set your preferences, drag and drop the PGPSW files onto the program and it exports new files into your POILoader folder. You then use POILoader to load these files to your Garmin.

under settings and proximity alerts you can 'untick' garmin cameras and/or custom pois to disable warnings

had my first experiance of the garmin database the other week. wasn't too impressed as 2 cameras in our database that have been in forever (id's of around 5,000) were not in the garmin one! i could maybe understnd if they were new cameras but not ones that have been in ours for 4 years...
