I've been using Home v1.5-ish and the auto update suggested v2. This I did and all seemed OK for a while but it then started bombing out.

I had v6.521(?) software on the Classic and it suggested I updated to v7.161. The extra features are nice but I've found that it's screwed my POI descriptions, e.g. for the speed cam POIs, some of the names have gone to a load of gobbledegook made up of foreign characters Crying or Very sad Is it possible to sort this? The file names are correct when looking in explorer - it's how TT handles them...

Is this software update a step too far and I should get back to 6.52 etc? I've since looked on the tomtom site and it recommends home v1.5 for the classic so I've reinstalled that. It's a pity the various Home versions don't realise various updates will screw up the system and not alert you to download them Crying or Very sad

You will need HOME V2 to be able to upgrade to the latest Maps and Software.

If you are not going to Upgrade your Maps there is no compelling reason to use V7 Software.

Do you have a Full Backup of your GO on the PC? If so, just use that to restore.

If you want to use the last V6 software you can get it Here.

Update: I managed to sort out the gash POI data - I moved the .inf (setup info) files for the relevant POI files, then deleted them when it worked OK and things are back to normal Smile Just had to reset the "warn when near" sounds and we're up and running with v7 software Very Happy

I'm back on home 1.5 or so and will see what happens when I next connect up - it's tried suggesting all sorts of upgrades - some of which worked and some screwed the system. Time to take off auto-update on connection, methinks!
