Anyone know if the 7.10 map includes information from recent mapshare data?
I wonder if they used a more current tele atlas data file, or just issued a new map point release based on confirmed mapshare data all rolled together. |

I'd been wondering that....
Especially as they do imply that your Mapshare corrections only work on the map you created them on. |

Found this surfing another forum...
Quote: | ... The problem with the new maps is that almost all of the Map Share corrections were made by TomTom to the 7.04 maps. Now that the 7.10 maps are out, those map corrections are no longer there and will need to be added again. This is because Teleatlas and TomTom aren't sharing the data from Map Share just yet. This is why I want the deal between the two companies to happen as soon as possible. Hopefully all of the 720 owners take advantage of the free map upgrade guarantee so they aren't reporting map errors on the old maps. |

What a mess!
I'm HOPING that even if the maps don't include the corrections when supplied, then the first time you connect to Home it will download all the accumulated corrections again.
But that depends on:
1. Mapshare being allowed to continue over subsequent MINOR map updates (v7.something to v7.something else)
2. Mapshare updates actually BEING cumulative, something I have evidence to prove they haven't in the past (for POI corrections at least).
Surely it is time for Tom Tom to produce a "white paper" explaining some of these details and explaining some of the basic principles of how Mapshare is intended to work? |
