I'm thinking of buying a tomtom 720 traffic version and I wondered if it could be used in pedstrian mode, especially when going to europe without a car

The 720 itself can be used in pedestrian mode, but the RDS-TMC would be best left in the car, if connected in will only drain the battery down faster and any data it provides would be irrelevant.

The 720 and 720T are the same navigation unit, the T version is packaged with the RDS-TMC receiver - Mike
