Hi all this is my first post ,the site looks good.
I need to know if the memory card from my tom tom 510 will work in other model tom toms,i have a LOT of different places in the memory and may need to swap several cards( i have about 5 cards each with a different memeory full of places, all are copies of the original) will these copies work in a 910 720 500 520 etc you get the picture. . . my 510 is about 2 years old i nedd to buy a second one but need a slimline unit that must take all my existing cards....any ideas?
....is 40odd the max to store? ( or is there some way round this?)
....do other models have more space?
thanks in anticipation |

Welcome to the forum, are you storing the locations as favourites per chance? if so why not create a new POI category, then you can store as many locations as you want within it. You can still navigate to a POI a long with a number of other functions, the advantage being the number of points that can be stored (no limit, where as Favourites are limited as you have found out).
The card won't work in other devices, a 910 has no card slot as it uses an internal Hard Drive, the 720 and 520 use internal memory but have a card slot but the software on your 510's card is wrong for those devices. Also you would have to activate the map for a new device.
If I were you I would convert each of your favourites to a POI file, next copy the POI file from the map folder on the memory card to the PC the file you want will be called "myPOI.ov2" (the myPOI bit will be whatever you call the POI category when you create it).
With the file on the PC you can open it using POIEdit you can then concatenate the multiple POI files from all of your cards to a single POI file containing all locations (Use the File/ Append function). Lastly copy the file back to the map folder of you memory card and use it. This POI file can then be used on any TomTom device without any issues at all - Mike |

Great answer chears for that I've tested using poi's and cannot believe i hadn't spotted this before, i presume from your answer that once all my favs are converted to poi's as per your instructions that each device 910 720 etc will read just the poi's off the sd card and use it's own maps?? |

You will only get the POI file available to you IF you load it to the device that you want to use it on, you can certainly use the POI file on more than one device though, any TomTom softare will be able to use it be it on a mobile phone, PDA or PNA like you are using - Mike |
