Folks
I have been researching various GPS units with a view to buying one very soon but one thing that has been mentioned quite a few times is problems when using Mapshare.
People describe units not working after being attached to the PC, is this a known issue with TomTom's?
Cheers

Also, what is the best deal around for £200 approx? Must have Euro maps.
I am considering :-
TomTom One XL Europe
TomTom Go 720
But i am open to suggestions.
Thanks

No there is not a known problem with the units not working after disconnecting from PC. As the software has to re-boot after the PC has used it, occassionally it will need a quick poke of the reset button, that's all.
Mapshare is a little flakey with some of the older models not downloading the mapshare corrections after updating to a new map and software, but there is a fix for that on the forum.
Both the One XL and the 720 are very good models. The biggest problem with the 720 is that quite few have had dodgy performance as a hands-free for a mobile phone.
If you JUST want navigation, go for the XL, but if you want to have a play with some extras like mp3 jukebox and inbuilt FM transmitter, go for the 720.
The x20 range also have text to speech which makes quite a difference (with spoken road names, warnings etc.) |

Whilst you are looking around, check out the Garmin nuvi 250W. That would appear to fit your requirements |
