Hi Guys,
After some orrible scroat nicked my TomTom Go 300, I replaced it with a Go 520, Now I have a couple of problems.
1. I had Western Europe maps version 6.6 on my 300 and installed onto the 520. Two problems, Mapshare would not work and computer voices would not work. After contacting and badgering TomTom Support they credited my account with Western Europe 6.75. And guess what, still the same issues. I am awaitng TomTom support. But wondered if anyone out there has had similar problems or advice.
2. Re-installed PGW speed cam POI's and set up warn when near details, now i find whenever i connect to my PC with TomTom Home version 1.6, 2.0 or 2.1 the sound file assigned defaulted. I have run the clear flash program several times but still no joy, and no response from TomTom support so far other than side stepping and not reading my problem properly. So i thought somebody here may have some ideas.

Assuming you did the right thing on day one and made a Windows Explorer backup of the original GO520, revert to that backup for Mapshare to work. I can't understand why you'd want to go backwards with map versions. I'm not even sure Western Europe Map would have been small enough to get into the GO520. If you're dead keen on the Europe map, why not have it on a spare SD card for use whenever you feel the urge? _________________ Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Yes I have backups, thats why i have a copy of maps from my 300, and i dont want to go backwards, i got the 520 because i had western europe maps from my 300. I have a 2 gig sd card to install the western europe maps too, and TBH wasnt too bothered about mapshare for europe. But when it is installed on the card it knocks out the computer voices on the internal drive GB map when switched back from europe maps. Only when i delete the europe maps do things run properly.
The really annoying problem though is the POI sound files defaulting to beep 1 when i connect to the PC. This is with or without the europe map.

When TomTom Boots up from the internal memory, it uses the computer voices in the map folder, of the internal drive.
When TomTom boots up with an SD card in, it boots up from the SD card, so you need to have the computer voices in the map folder on the SD card too. It can't use the voices on the internal drive because its running off the SD card. Will this sort that part of you problem out, or have I got the wrong end of the stick, If I have, just ignor what I said, . _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav

Sorry Tanda, that is the case with other models with both Flash memory and SD card, but not on the 520/720. They CAN boot off the Flash Memory and use a map on the SD card at the same time.
Having said that, it still might be worth trying copying the TTS voices to the SD card!

Thanks guys, Its starting to make a bit more sense now. When I 1st put the sd card in I put all maps on, GB and europe. Then I tried just europe on the sd card including the voices but still no joy, having said that I have only done this in TTHome 1.6. I will try again with explorer. What i did notice tho is even when i put voices on the card it would not show them.
Another interesting thing was the main application file was installed on both internal and external memory, but after deleting everything from external memory i still had to reinstall the file back to internal, or i got the dreaded red cross.
