|
|
So, as the title says, I have a TomTom 510 and i'm off for a fly drive in the states from San Francisco to LasVegas and the grand canyon, stopping at nappa valley, lake tahoe, yosemite and deatch valley on the way, but i have a few questions..
1. Its hard to get more details on the maps, but i'm presuming the Western USA map should do the trick for these areas..
2. My SD card is not big enough to add the maps to my existing one, but rather than buy another card, I presume i can just remove the UK maps to my laptop and add the Western US maps to the TomTom 510 as they are the same size or there abouts. Is this correct.?
3. Anyone know if my UK cigarette lighter adapater for charging will work in the US or not? or do I need an adapter for the adapter.. ooer.?
Cheers

1. Dunno, I'm afraid
2. Yes, you can take off the UK maps as you describe. Remember the latest maps for download are most easily installed using "Home" (unless you are au fait with unzipping cab files yourself.
3. Yes, UK ciggy adapter should work ok. |

And whatever you do, try to include Bryce Canyon in your travels. It's the best of them all. |

Did something very similar earlier this year. SD cards are now so cheap, I would get a new larger card and add the US map to it. Ciggi lighter adaptor is fine. but in CA windscreen bracket is not. It's illegal in California to stick anything to the windscreen, so you need to invest in an alternative bracket to stick the TT to the air vents.

Just back from 3300 miles across USA. New York to Chicago then to LA via Route 66 (as much as possible). Used 2Gb card with official TomTom USA map (only) and was more than impressed with the detail and coverage. Saw lots of TT’s in use en route but most not “on screen” in California.
Recommended – and the TomTom was pretty good as well! |
