I've just got my first Sat Nav and after some quite confusing research plumped for the TomTom One Europe New Version "Travel Edition". After further post purchase research I reckon it was a fortuitously good choice.
Like the "Third Edition", it has 1GB internal memory, but unlike the third edition it retains the SD card slot and Bluetooth. It starts with serial Z1 so can be upgraded to v7 now. It has map 6.75 WE because it hasn't been sitting on the shelf.
Currently selling for 179GBP with 20 quids worth of carry case which it seems to me you need anyway.

Any downside?

A possible downside is that when you try to do an upgrade using the 'Home' program, it will corrupt your internal memory. There are quite a few postings about this happening.

So the first thing you should do is to make a complete backup of the contents of your internal memory using Windows Explorer, not Home. Copy the files onto a safe spot on your hard drive (and burn a copy on a CD for further security).

Cheers, Ive done a backup as suggested. Can't easily find the posts you refer to, could you give me some pointers?
