At first I was considering a CF GPS card for my 2210 - but after some advice on this site I'm thinking a BT device....

The TomTom looks nice but it's nearly £100 more than the Fortuna as far as I can tell (when bundled with TT2 Nav software). It will be 95% in car use and I'd like it powered via the car, I don't want to be messing about with batteries all the time.

Based on this could anyone give me some advice - can the TomTom be found for less or is it worth the extra? Does the Fortuna really work best on batteries?

Thanks all....

If you're primary use will be in-car then the TomTom is a better option. As it has a cradle which charges the receiver in car it is a lot simpler and if fed from an ignition controlled power source it will switch on/off automatically with the ignition.

There is practically little difference between them performance wise although the Fortuna has an Xtrac mode which is useful in marginal conditions when hiking etc. At the end of the day it is down to whether you place enough importance on the car cradle to justify the additional cost.

Thanks Darren.

It sounds like the TT BT box is the way to go then...
