Hi

My iQue M4 came with City Navigator v8 built into the safe storage area. I've not got City Navigator v9 software.
My question is, can I not delete the City Navigator v8 software from the safe storage area and copy across all the news maps from v9?
Or do I have to copy v9 software onto the SD card, and just tell it not to use the v8 maps?
Obviously, it just seems pointless having the v8 maps taking up space in the safe storage area when it's not been used.
When I've copied the v9 maps across to my SD card the file does have a different name to the built in map though.
On the SD card the maps call themselves GMAPSUPP, whereas the safe storage built in map is called GMAPPROM.

Hope somebody can help since if I can't erase the safe storage maps and copy over the new maps I'll have to buy a new SD card.

Thanks.
Wayne

You are right. You have to load your new map data onto an sd card. Once you have inserted the sd card, you have to select which map set you wish to use. To do this, select- tools- manage my data- map sets- then select the mapsource icon on the bottom right. Put a tick in the maps you wish to use. De-select the older map set (if you dont de-select your old version you end up with the unit being very slow/sluggish due to reading two map sets). I have not found a way to erase the v8 maps to free up space. I use a 2gb sd card which holds the complete Europe v9 maps (about 1.3gb) which still leaves around 700mb to play with.
