Hi Chaps,
I was really looking forward to getting the SATMAP in June.. july.. August.. Sept... you get the picture!
Even when it does arrive I'm not sure I want to pay £300 for something that has obviously had production problems, but I do need something soon, so are they any other alternatives that use OS Maps?
TIA

Well you could use a PocketPC in a water tight Otterbox running Memory-Map but it wouldn't be much cheaper, will have poorer battery life and a little more fiddly to operate. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Same here and feel disapointed that all the original hype has fizzled out.
However i still feel that this has got to be worth waiting for, but i do realise that with a new product it is going to have it's problems and delays and i would rather they sort them out now than throw anything out just to meet date targets.
When we do end up with the Satmap it is very unlikely that it will be trouble free, what is, just look at the Sat Navs on this forum, the main issue will be to see whether we get a FULL backup and not fobbed off on the phone, any problems will have to be rendered straight away with a trouble free replacement if necessary - or the product will then be doomed if it gets a bad press. _________________ TomTom Go 60

Was going to reply earlier - but darren beat me to my post!
I don't know what probs they are having in production but when I saw the product at the Outdoor Show - NEC late 2006 it looked a great product but I was concerned that the products they were demo-ing weren't waterproof - despite the demo of a part submerged unit. The SD card area didn't look watertight and the 'submerged' unit had this bit clear of the water. I think I mentioned in the review on this site that they would have been better going for a design like GARMIN - with the card inside a waterproof battery compartment. Also their battery life claims varied wildly between the reps on the stand. _________________ Phil |
