Hi Guys,
It's been a while (at least 9+ months) since I last updated my speed camera database but I have just done it and it now works differently to how I had it before - it used to give an audible alert, give the camera code eg G40334 and show speed camera location on the map even if you were under the limit. Now it gives the audible alert and the display says something like "30mph speed limit ahead" but doesn't show the actual location of the camera on the map and only does this if you are close to or on the limit.

Has the format of the camera database changed since I last downloaded it and what settings do I need to get it back to, or similar to, how I had it working previously? ie see and be alerted to the camera locations even when travelling under the limit.

Also can someone explain the differences between how the 3 different downloads work and which one do I want? (I'm sure I used to use the single file one - all the cameras were shown as a black and white icon)

a) Single File
b) Consolidated by Type
c) Speed Zoned

Streetpiolt I3, s/ware 3.40, City Navigator Europe NT+ v8

Cheers, Rob.

As far as i am aware the database hasn't changed format or the way it behaves on an i3.

Mine only ever gave the alert if you were close or over the limit.

Mine does this in some places but still shows the cameras with the code and an icon.

To get the effect you want try using Ash10s Camera Manager which can convert the CSV files to GPX files and include a second set to provide alerts regardless of speed. See CLICK HERE

a) Single File - All cameras in one files. Shows a camera icon.
b) Consolidated by Type - (My preference) Cameras sorted into files according to camera type. Icon shows camera type on the screen.
c) Speed Zoned - Cameras sorted into files according to speed. Icon shows camera speed on the screen.

Just to say that different devices work differently e.g I use a myguide 3100 and get alerted of speedcams as long as they are on that road, and does not matter whether I am over or under the speed limit.I am talking about both visual and audible alerts/ type of camera and camera location. It only stops visual/audible alerts when you have gone past the camera.

The database certainly hasn't changed format, and anyway the database is only a list of points on a map with descriptive names.
What each brand of sat nav does with that limited information (flashing icons, audible warnings, only warning if going over a certain speed etc.) is entirely up to its own software.
