Garmin - TomTom

Hi

I used to have a TomTom PDA which was great til the PDA broke

A family member went and bought a Garmin Nuvi 300 which is SHOCKINGLY BAD in comparison

My question - is it somehow possible to flash the Garmin unit (its an in car one not a PDA) to work with TomTom? I haven;t checked it for ports or anything

Anyone know if its possible or has been tried?

You can't - totally different h/w and firmware.

My main system used to be TomTom Nav on DELL AXIM. I bought a GARMIN 660 as I wanted an All-in-One system (fed up with loads of wires around the place - well the wife was )

They are very different in user interface - but the product is very good. Mapping is more accurate. Even TomTomNav 6 with 660 and 675 maps don't have the correct topology for some roads around me. They 'connect' two roads that are separated 30mts vertically! And the nuvi doesn't try to take me down an unsurfaced track to get to the M6.
But all this is very user subjective - take time to use the product - it does what it says on the box
