|
|
Hi All
I am a new TT910 owner. Worked straight from the box and did full back up immediately. Logged onto TomTom website and surprisingly it offered updates for a huge pile of safety cameras for Europe which I have installed via TT Home.
I have now downloaded some 50 POI categories I would like to install. I have read numerous threads and understand how to install and enable them BUT when I look in the Western Europe map folder all the cameras are listed as .OV2 files - total 118.
I thought that there was a limit of 100 .OV2 files, if so why have TT installed 118, and yes the ones I have tried do work. Do these camera OV2 files not count as they are not accesed via POI but TT Plus. I do not want to delete these files as I do drive around Europe. Can I still install my POi's
Secondly - where are the real TT POI .OV2 files stored as they are not in my map folder but they are installed and work??
Lastly - when browsing POI's to find say a Tesco it displays the name but the line is not long enough for all the location. Is there any way to get more detail as its a pain to select it and then find when the route is planned its the wrong one.
Would appreciate any advice you can give as I don't want to screw up my, so far, perfectly functional 910. - Thanks |

firstly, the TomTom speed cameras do not add to the limit of 100 custom POI files as they are handled differently.
Secondly the TomTom POI files are stored in the file POI.dat you cannot easily access that file but all the different pre-installed categories are within that single file.
To see the full line of text when browsing with the TomTom (in any menu for that matter not just the POI list) tap and hold your finger on the line of interest an the text size will decrease so you can read it all, if its the wrong item slide your finger down the screen without removing it from contact to read the others in the list - Mike |

I have just replaced my XDA exec with a TT910 and transferred all my pocketgps camera files to the 910 plus some other POIs.
When I tried to enable my POIs i could only get a few of the cameras enabled, the rest weren't available.
I deleted most of the other POIs but am still short of about 3 cameras.
When I look at the folder, there are 103 ov2 files which are mostly European camera files.
Can I delete these to make room or have I done something wrong? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2460LT

Certainly you can get rid of the foreign cameras.
As you've found, the limit is 100 user POI categories (as measured by counting the number of .ov2 files in your map folder). More than that and some (not necessarily the last ones added) start to disappear. |

As I've got the pocket gps speed camera files, would it be feasible to remove the TomTom UK camera files which would have the bonus effect of removing the irritating beeps associated or is there another way to silence them? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2460LT

Yes, in both instances.
They can be turned off in TomTom PLUS services, on Page 3 of the Main Menu.
Removing them will also silence them. ![Wink](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ Richard

Thanks.
I think I'll get rid of them to give me more room for other POIs. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2460LT
