Tomtom 720 - Avoid Roadblock Errors

Once I have set a route on the Tomtom 720. If I then select 'Find Alternative' & then 'Avoid Roadblock' The device calculates & comes back with no route found. It does this whichever distance button to the roadblock I select. When I check the original route planned is still there.
Is anyone else experiencing the same ?
Any Ideas?

are you sure there is no other route to be found ..i can only look this evening when my tt arrives

Yes I have tried again this morning. First two times on the road block being one mile & three miles ahead, I got, 'No Route could be found.' Third time when I tried the road block in 100 yds, it recalculated a route. Not sure if it is something I am doing wrong or if it is the tomtom 720. Never experienced it on my old tomtom 700.

The avoid roadblock feature is normally used as you are driving and finds a new route from where you are NOW.
Just guessing, but if you are at the beginning of your journey and have only one route out of your street it wouldn't find an alternative.

I've just tried it on a route from my house and the avoid roadblock feature worked pretty much as it normally does when I'm driving, it routed me out of my road and then turned left instead of right.
All options of roadblock distance found a route.

Thanks for your response, I think you are right. It doesn't seem to like the 'avoid road block' calculation at the start of the journey, or so it seems. Even if I select the road block in 3 miles, as between my house & three miles there are a number of options for re-routing, it still returns 'route not found'.

After your reply & trying again. I have found if I try the road block feature a mile down the road, it seems to work fine now.
