To save people time looking around the forum for there mods on these units. Here is some info. The Medion 210 with version software 1.1 will not run the taskbar, you need version 2 or higher of the software.once you have a newer version installed on the 210 it will run just about anything on the win-ce 4.2 net system it has. The 205 however has win-ce 5 and has had a lot of the win-ce system left out so you cant run things like the taskbar however you can run a program called total commander which gives access to the file system on the 205. MY advice to you is to buy the 210 and not the 205 as it is more moddable.Tomtom runs on these but after a hard reset you need to reinstall what was in my documents and programs files as these get deleted. better run the Medion AE or PE system software as it has all the things tomtom has if not better, tom tom has 62 voices warnings medion has 95 so clearer instruction.plus better map graphics

Hi Gary,
(Thought I'd post you on this thread, as you aint had a reply..... :D )
On the modded 205 (using AE), the 'proximity bar' in the right hand corner remains...regardless if approaching a POI & even in the address menu. I've done a hard reset etc etc...any thoughts??

Cheers

Thanks Gary....
will check settings..hadn'd changed them since the last set up...but will double check.Have noticed that after prolonged use (a drive from Lancs to North Somerset, then another to Stirling) that the top 1/2 of the nav screen just displays the background colour (no roads/POIs or whatever).
The audible warnings are fine & the road name is still at the top of the screen. A couple of power offs tends to fix it.
Have you (or any other members) had this happen? & any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Installing Gapi 3.10 should fix any screen refresh rate just run it and choose what unit you have from the gapi menu.also the total commander may need the argyshell.dll to run as well. as wince 5 has lots missing

Thanks Gary,
I'm not too sure if it's actually due to screen refresh rate , when I lose the map...I lose it until I power off/reboot. But it is rare but not too rare as to be a bit of a pain. But will have a look at the files I have/track down Gapi....
I've not yet reinstalled Commander (I've had no need to as of now)....have been under orders to "stop playing with your thing.......................................& leave the Medion alone too!!"
Laughing

Cheers

Hi Gary,
For some reason (?) the nav works perfectly..until I run it with POI Warner!
I then get the stalled/empty Nav Screen.
Will bang in the files tonight & have a crack at the Commander again.

As ever, your help/advice is appreciated.

Cheers

Fatslag/DaveNN,
can you advise how to load Total Commander and/or GAPI on a Medion 205/210 so that it runs?

Gapi is installed from the pc using activesysnc it will when you run it from the medion give you the option to set which medion you have along with other devices this installs a gfx.dll file in windows for correcting any graphics in the programs you use.totall commander is used on the Medion 205 as Taskbar does not work on the 205.To use total commander you will need to edit the menu.xml file in the menu folder on your flash disk so it appears in the menu screen on the sat nav program when it loads this then gives you access to wince desktop. Example

app name="app1" madatory="1"
icon posX="10" posY="125" width="95" height="68"
resource path="navigation\menu\320240\icon_commander.png" /
/icon
action path="navigation\\commander" /
/app
you will have to make your own icon for it or rename another to use . and copy total commander to the navigation folder

Thanks, but when I install GAPI from my PC to the Medion I get no options. It just installs into default directory on the Medion. There is no way to 'run' it on the Medion.

As i said above in the example if you dont have access to wince desktop or file system you need to edit the menu.xml file to include it in the menu
