New freezing problem

I have occasionally in the past had my TT1 lockup when switching on, and have had to employ the 'reset switch' to reactivate it; however 2 days ago I had a new variation.
Whilst pre programming a route the unit powered off, and thinking that the battery had gone flat I put it on recharge.
After a few couple of hours on charge, it still wouldn't reactivate, and I had to do several combinations of reset switch, removing SD card and etc. Eventually it powered up again, and I thought all was well until I went to use it yesterday, when I again had probems powering up which I eventually resolved and completed my journey. After a four hour stop, I couldn't power up for the return trip: same result.
So it seems that if I switch unit off and then back on after several hours, it freezes, but if I switch back on shortly after powering off, all is well. The battery is holding charge OK, so I wonder if anyone else has encountered a similar problem and solved it? (sorry for long post)
