Hi, newbie here in the UK.

Do any GPS satnav systems currently available have the facility to plug up to an external LCD monitor? I have a large vehicle with a reversing camera attached to a 7 inch LCD screen in the cab, and it has a second AV input that I can switch to at the press of a button. I don't want to clutter up dash area with more toys. Satnav would be vehicle-based only, so hard-wired not a problem. Can you recommend anything?

Thanks.

Cotty

Welcome

I can't think of any portable units that can do this, but maybe you could try getting a cheap laptop with some sat nav program and connect that to your display?

Ahh, just seen this which sounds like it's right up your street:

Not sure if it's available in the UK and if the price is reasonable though....

You could always look into running TomTom (or any other software you want for that matter) on either the HTC Athena (x7500) or the T-Mobile version called the Ameo, both these devices support VGA out or Composite Video output with the correct cable connected - Mike

You are talking about an AV monitor with composite video input.
I cannot think of any PDA or GPS which can output directly to AV monitor.
(Of course you can use the expensive thing previously posted).
Still it is not ideal as you still have to control the software within your PDA/GPS as touch screen on the monitor wil not work.

Thanks to all who replied. The Garmin GVN 52 is ideal for what I want - and is available with maps of western Europe. Price is not too expensive, especially as it's a company purchase so thanks again.

I'd be interested to hear how much it cost and what you thought of the unit. Come back and let us know when you get it up and running!!
