|
|
I have just loaded a new updated map of western europe on my 910, but i can't see any way of enabling the poi that are on the old western and central europe map .Is there a way of transfering them, as they appear on the 910 in tom tom home. Also is there away of transfering your favorite places from the old map to the new? Any help is much appreciated. |

Yes, "MapSettings.cfg", in the map folder. Just copy it across
from your old map folder, into the new map folder, and the POI.DAT file. _________________ Audi A3 Sline sat nav

Tanda's advice will only copy your favourites to the new map.
To copy your user-loaded POIs, you need to copy all the ".ov2" files and the same-named ".bmp"s from the old map folder to the new map folder as well.
You can do this using Windows Explorer and normal computer copy-and-paste methods. Home is not needed.
If you wanted to replace the built-in POIs with those from the old map you would need to replace the "poi.dat" file with the one from the old map, but that seems pointless as you cannot merge the old and new together.
Copying the favourites is explained more fully in the TomTom FAQs at the top of this forum section (#12 HERE), or I wrote a guide to doing both favourites and POIs HERE |

Ah - think I've done something wrong!!! TomTom won't switch on now!!! I tried resetting and now I get the TomTom screen with two red hands and the drum beat - then it immediately goes blank again.
Stupidly I didn't back up the Mapsettings config file first.
Is it MapSettings.cfg? That's what I had in my old GB map folder - but I don't remember seeing those capitals in the new Western Europe folder.
Can anyone help?
Cheers, Nick |

The MapSetting.cfg File won't cause that to happen. If the Software can't see the correct file on start up it will just create a new one.
Did you Safely Remove Hardware when you disconnected from the PC?
Do you have a Backup? Have you done a 30 secs Reset?
If the Reset or Backup doesn't work, you might have to Reformat the SD Card (I believe you have a ONE) and re-load everything. _________________ Richard

No - I didn't do a safely remove hardware, and no I didn't do a back up(silly me!!!!)
I didn't do a 30 second reset, just a quick poke, so I'll try those 2 things and see how I get on.
Thanks for your help!!! |

Panic over!!! I went in the car, plugged it in and it worked ok. It now switches on ok unplugged from the car.
Perhaps the battery wasn't charged enough to do a full boot.
Thanks for your help Oldboy. |

Well done for using "search". We love you for that!!
But go to the back of the class for not doing a backup first!
DO IT NOW!!! (instructions for doing a "proper" backup (i.e. not using TT's Home utility) are #1 in the FAQs Click Here |

I am not sure if you are doing a backup or a copy?
You would be safer to do a copy using Windows Explorer. Make sure that all files are showing - Tools, Folder Options, View and enable show all hidden files and folders _________________ RQ
