Hi

I have a TomTom One v2. I know there are loads of things I can get as extras (such as celebrity voices) but I don't want to spend a fortune on these things unless it is truly worth it.

So as a survey, can anyone suggest if it is worth buying any of the celebrity voices or are they only fun for a minute (and you end up reverting to the standard ones). If you can suggest any that are worth it - please let me know. I have heard people favour John Cleese, Yoda and Liz Whitaker - but are they worth it.

Also is there anything else that I should buy as add-ons. In case anyone wonders I have the speed cameras sorted.

Also if there are any special guidances on setup (from map colours to general preferences) that would normally take me a year before I figured it out, please advise too.

Many thanks, Jonny

Everybody I know who've tried them say that the celeb. voices are OK for a giggle, but drive you mad after a very short while. Maybe worth having to entertain someone new in the car, but not for normal use.

Liz on the other hand, is just a replacement voice (no stupid gags that are the same every time), so may be worth trying.

Obvious things to try adding:
a custom start up and shutdown "splash" screen
New map colours (I use "GBNew")
and most popular: real voice alerts for the speed cameras (maybe using Liz so they match your navigation voice!)

You can also get Off-road navigation add-ons, trip loggers, mp3 and video players.
They've all been discussed on here if you do a search for them.

Thanks for your reply - I will certainly look into the new map layour you mentioned.

With reference to spoken POI, I was under the impression that this is only possible with the more advanced Tomtom's - not the one v2.

Tell me this isn't the case and I will definitely look into it.

Thanks

You most certainly can use spoken POI alerts on a TomTom One V2 - My set-up uses the Liz voice for both the Navigation voice and spoen warnings, I just think this sounds better than the voices supplied with the device - Mike
