Please excuse the question if this is something covered previously, but I
have just joined after futile Googling.

I have recently bought a Garmin Streetpilot 2610 second hand and upgraded
the mapsource software to v9. This unit can hold up to 500 waypoints and
does not support the Gramin POILoader software, so I am unable to load my
own points of interest other than as waypoints.

My car runs on LPG so I would like to get the 800-odd forecourts that sell
it into the unit. I have already loaded the Countrywide Farmers depots
(where I have an account and fuel is a mere 37p/litre!) as waypoints,
having used GPSBabel to convert from a csv file to a GDB file that I can
open in Mapsource. That's fine for 36 waypoints but doesn't help me with
the 800 forecourts.

Reading about a speed camera database at

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/walterwright/index.html

I found reference to older units having to use a map overlay to get all
the camera sites into the unit and I wonder if this is a technique that I
can use to get my LPG forecourts in. What I can't seem to find is any
pointers on how to convert from the GDB file I have, which opens in
Mapsource with 800 waypoints, into a map overlay that I presumably could
use without occupying any more of the waypoint places on my unit.

Regards,
Jerry
