I am curious about the continental database, and how it is currently progressing. I have awnsered numerous requests for european camera locations and wondered wether the members are doing enough to help the team.
I'm sure we have a few continental drivers here either for work or pleasure, and we are comming up to the time of year when many of us drive abroad for our hols.
What can we do to assist the PGPSW team when abroad?
Most of us know the legal implications in certain countries, and maybe when we're driving abroad we're not that bothered as to where the cameras are as many have said they are better behaved when in Rome! However the database won't write itself!
And maybe someone might verify a few of my cameras! :D _________________ Dom

I'm going to Corfu on Friday, so I'll keep an eye open for any you did there!!
Seriously, though, last summer in Europe I did have the continental DB loaded, but there weren't many. Plus I was rubber neck touring, not using roads where cameras would be more likely. The only cameras I saw were the French ones which warned me and they were correctly located.
I would have had difficulty helping out here. I don't really know what the cameras look like abroad - I'd need guidance (pictures) like pgpsw give on the camera submission page to help me identify cameras.
At present, I personally couldn't see any of your cameras because we don't have pJohnnyForeignercameras (or at least I haven't seen a download for them!) and I wouldn't see any that I don't know what they look like or something!!
But you're so right that the DB won't write itself.

we have lots for spain, south africa and australia.
plus those currently in the eu downloads for france, germany, holland. there are a few others dotted around too but we just need locations submitting in the normal way.
we're currently working on a way to reduce server load / memory due to the huge number of downloads and so we will hopefully be able to officialy 'release' the foreign cams soon after that - it may start off with just the more popular formats so tomtom ov2, garmin csv and navman asc for starters.

On the navman downloads there is an option for euro database! Is this still being updated at the moment or is it not supposed to be there. _________________ Dom

Any one noticed a speed camera in a rubbish bin yet?
If you think we have camera problems this is the Canadian and German version.
How do you fit that in the pmobile database?
Edited - Sorry mostdom just noticed on the end of your post - you beat me to it.
Some more French Speed Camera's. _________________ TomTom Go 60

the EURO files have been static for a long time and not updated like the main database. just like the USA redlight cams and AUS cams too.
these have all been moved into the main database now so just need releasing - like i said though, we're still working on some server issues which are nearly complete |
