Hi
As title - has anyone got a new Mio 520 (or variant) and managed to import the PGPSW speed cam database, as per the method for the x10 models?
TIA
Si. |

No first hand experience but I have three friends with C520t, and it appears to be simpler than for the CX10s.
Mio has changed their new units so at least the C520 can be fully accessed from Windows Explorer as a Mobile Device without any need for special software. From what understand the C320 works the same way. See a related thread

As you have access to all files and folders on your enire unit you donīt need any hack. The Mio_transfer_hack, bluetooth connections etc are for those of us using the C510, C710, C250 etc units.
Apart from that it works pretty much the same way.
Make sure you exit Miomap and connect to your PC
Use Windows Exploerer, enter the Mio Device shown as a separate external unit. Slect the path MIOMAP/MIOMAP/MIOTC/POIS and you will find the POIUpdates.upd and SpeedCams.mtc.
Delete them and replace by your own (PGPSW) SpeedCams.mtc |

It's good news about Mitac relaxing access to their products. There's no point in trying to keep the files "secret", people will always find ways to open them up.

Can somebody please advise why it is necessary to delete BOTH the existing files? Why do we need to delete the POIupdates.upd file?
I have replaced the PocketGPS speedcams and renamed as suggested and it "appears" to be working OK |

It's not strictly necessary to delete the poiupdates file, but you may have odd results if you don't. It records edits, additions or deletions to cameras in the main file. If you replace the main file only then any edits may be invalidated. If you entered new ones they may be included in the new download and result in duplicates. Of course if you haven't made any manual changes then the updates file will be zero length.

OK, many thanks SallyAnn
I was more concerned that this might have an impact on any other POIs in the unit but from your comments it would appear not.
To answer my previous questions elsewhere (and for the benefit of other newbies) about the type and style of warning alerts
When using the PWGPS database the warning tone remains the high pitched Mio shriek - good, no chance of missing that one then - and the icons remain as the Mio style cameras (or so it would seem) |

There's no danger of losing the other POI's - they are contained within the map files.
