|

I have been waiting for the ONE XL Europe devices to be available here but it looks like it's going to be at least another couple of weeks before I can buy one in this country (don't like the reviews of Pixmania). If I buy a ONE XL GB now will I be able, at a later stage, to download the latest Western Europe maps from TomTom's website, put them on an SD card and then have in effect a ONE XL Europe? |

Pretty much, although you would, I believe, be missing out on the 1Gb of Interrnal memory. Mind you, since you can't have both lots of memory in use at the same time, it's pretty pointless anyway. _________________ Tim |

Thanks Tim. Would there be any noticeable difference in performance running the Europe maps from SD card rather than internal memory? |

As long as your SD card is fast enough it will work fine in the One XL, in fact it will offer a slight advantage in that loading a new map to an SD card at some point in the future will be considerably faster than the inbuilt memory (approx 4 times faster with the card in a USB 2 compliant card reader) - Mike |

Thanks Mike. After waiting for 2 weeks for the 'end of May' availability of the ONE XL Europe I will now go ahead and buy the GB. |
