Lost my sound on TOMTOM ONE

hi

bought my tomtomone UK map, in Feb this year....just recently lost my darling jayne....(sound)...done all the reset and updated the version..but no sound.
been back to Comet where i bought it from, they wont exchange it. Contacted tomtom they want me to send it back to them and it will take 5-10days to get sorted....now the problem is that i'm a courier by trade and i need my sat nav everyday....
has anyone else had problems with there sound and manged to sort it out rather than sending it back to tomtom....if it is hardware related then fair enough it's got to go back.....
