mio 269+ and V3 Maps

I current;y have V2 maps
What are the advantages of upgrading to V3 maps?

Can I install the V3 updater (winceimg.bin) even if I dont decide to update to V3 maps.

Lastly, how do I find out what rom version I am currently running and what file to download from MIO other than Put in my S/N. On another forum a chap put his S/n in and the MIO site told him to use the wrong file. Something to do with screens (hitachi/NEc) i think

Rom version:

1. Insert the stylus into the soft reset button - on side of unit just below the headphone socket
2. When unit turns back on look to the upper left of the screen - the second set of figures is the Rom version of your unit (R**)
