Latest Which best buy is the Snooper Syrius.
According to
http://shop.instant-shop.com/Snooperdirect/product530186.html
if you trade in any old radar detector or satnav, you get free lifetime speed camera updates, AND free lifetime mapping updates.
How refreshing! |

On Which Magazine site. Quote: | Which has awarded six sat-nav systems Best Buy status. The best of the bunch was the Snooper Syrius UK & Ireland (90 per cent2, £286), which experts thought had “everything a driver needs.” Testers were impressed by its accuracy, describing its handling of the tricky city route as “perfect”.
Close behind is TomTom’s mid-range Go 510 (89 per cent, £269). The impressive software lets drivers select a route according to a range of criteria, such as the quickest, the shortest or one that avoids toll roads.
Third place goes to the Garmin Nuvi (88 per cent, £190), which was simple to set up and “a doddle” to use. Searching for destinations was especially easy thanks to a seven-digit postcode search function.
Other Best Buys were the TomTom One UK (86 per cent, £180); TomTom Go 910 (86 per cent, £350) and the Road Angel Nav 6000 (81 per cent, £180).
Richard Headland, motoring editor, Which?, said:
“Sat-navs often get a bad press for sending drivers the wrong way or down unsuitable roads, but our tests show that many of the newest portable sat-navs work very well. They’re also much cheaper to buy and easier to keep up to date than factory-fitted systems. If you want sat-nav in your car, make sure you go for one of our Best Buys.””. |
I can't find any data as to why the Snooper came first, what makes it so different to the others?
Also considering the Garmin Nuvi is the most expensive of the three, why is that 3rd?
I know this can be gained by subscribing to Which magazine, but is there any one kind enough to reveal to all of us the answers please. _________________ TomTom Go 60

" They’re also much cheaper to buy and easier to keep up to date than factory-fitted systems. If you want sat-nav in your car"
Thats about the limit as to what I agree with from the above, although they are writing for the consumer market rather than testing a unit, looking for faults with technical experience, reading the reviews on this site and making up your own mind is a much better bet than purchasing a device based on a magazine, they have their place - but often I have at good laugh at some of the so called "articles"
For example, until recently a leading magazine covering Pocket PC, GPS and mobile phone technology was still using screen shots from TomTom version 3 - way out of date!

Having had the opportunity to briefly test one of the Snooper's I'd be very interested to ascertain why they rated it so highly, I thought it was dire!
Also, free lifetime map updates is useful only when you know how frequent they plan to make them! _________________ Darren Griffin |
