|
|
Apologies if this is answered already - I haven't been able to find anything.
I installed the Pocket GPS Speed Camera Database onto my TomTom Go 510 for the first time last week. On my journey I noted a few cameras that TomTom didn't flag - but they are shown on the Google Map on Pocket GPS World.
For example on the A14 I passed 3 or 4 SPECS installations - and all but 1 of them showed up on TomTom; all of them show up on google map.
Am I missing something? Based on the example above I don't think I've done anything wrong in my setup, but I could have done.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Have you set up the warn when near option for ALL the speed cameras, quite often the problem is the number of Custom POI files installed to the device - you have a limit of 100 POI files in the map folder at any one time, check the number of files with an extension of .ov2 contained within the map folder - if its over 100 reduce the total then configure the speed camera warnings again - they should show up this time - Mike |

The google map shows the current, most up to date version of the database, i.e. a 'live' view of what we have. the cameras in question may have been activated since the version you downloaded.

Adrian, can you get the reference numbers of the cameras from the Google map, please. Will make it a lot easier for us to check.
When you click on a camera on the map, the reference appears at the bottom left. |

Just to clarify ... I'm using "UK Consolidated by Type" dated Thursday 17/05/07 06:47 - which were still the latest when I checked the database on Sunday night, 3 days after downloading them.

I think so - I'm assuming that all the SPECS cameras are in the same file, which is why I'm surprised that TomTom shows me some but not others.

I only have the TomTom standard POIs plus the 6 ov2 pocketgps files. I haven't checked, but I don't think this should be more than 100 files.

I wondered about this - is there any easy way to tell? Is there a list of cameras added since the last version anywhere? How many cameras are added each week on average?

Specifically, TomTom isn't showing me:
GATSO:2858
SPECS:31335
SPECS:31336
SPECS:31961
SPECS:31962
Along the same stretch of road it is showing me (for example):
SPECS:29765
SPECS:30453
It's also showing me:
TRUVELO:5381
TRUVELO:5384
- both of which are shown as deleted on GoogleMaps.
Thanks again

The above are NOT in the release preceding 17th May

The two above are in both previous and 17th May releases.

Both of these were in previous release and are NOT in the 17th May release.
So .... Somehow, you are using the previous release, not the 17th May release.
I suggest you delete the six ov2 pocketgps files and do the download and install again. _________________ Dennis

I've just looked more closely at the files, and although the "modified" dates are 17/05/07, the release.txt file says they are release 5.051 of 01 May.
The files I've just downloaded have "modified" dates of today, but release.txt says they are v5.053 of 17 May.
That's a bit confusing.
Anyway, I've downloaded new files (dated 8am today, although I'm beginning to think that's a red herring) and the missing cameras are shown, so I guess that's the end of it.
Thanks

The modified date/time is the date YOU modified them, by creating them by unzipping them. Clear as aTocH lamp, wherever that saying came from!
I overcome this by creating a new directory for each new update, latest being directory 2007-05-17. _________________ Dennis

Another windows 'foible' The modified date is changed simply by copying a file from one location to another. The created date is the crucial one in this case. Macs don't change file dates just because they have been moved/copied/extracted etc! _________________ Darren Griffin |
