I read this morning that the police will be able to place mobile sites where and whenever they like, day or night. I suppose that means I'll have to get my old radar detector out again...well disguised of course....shame that my TT isn't the best of both worlds. |

Police have always been able to do this. But they still have favourite haunts. The locations need to have good visibility of approaching traffic, space to stop drivers etc. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I thought there were rules and regs on the sites they can use. Not that they always abide by them but at least there were regs... |

Nope. Safety Camera Partnerships yes but Traffic or RPU's were in all the forces I'm familiar with always free to deploy wherever they wished. _________________ Darren Griffin |

according to my small amount of research they had to place them in an area where there had been at least 3 accidents resulting in serious injury or death?
now they can plonk them anywhere

Indeed but this is all with reference to fixed and safety camera mobiles only. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Rural East Yorkshire seems to be getting lots of small concrete/tarmac "parking places" at the sides of some roads. A number of these are situated just round bends or over brows of hills after straight bits of road.
If was in charge of scameras and told to maximise income, then I suspect I'd pick these places myself. |
