I purchased a HP5550 and BT Tom Tom package from TotalPDA who provided the initial setup at base.Tom Tom software is on the HP memory and the maps are on the SD card

I have been on several journeys and the navigator just freezes when the screen gets higher than 7 sats. I have checked the HP drivers and upgraded them to the latest version and i am running 2.243 on Tom Tom but i cannot seem to find what driver the GPS is running - how do i find this ?

Also after exiting the TT software after a freeze the connection in Blue Tooth Manager has dropped and will not reconnect on the short cut unless a soft reset is performed when it connects again in 3 seconds

Having read all the info about SD cards cards i checked mine which is from China so have ordered a new one but in the meantime copied the South Map to the HP memory but still experiencing the same issues.

This is driving me nuts so any advice would be gratefully received !

Try two things.

- take your SD card to a PC card reader, move all data off (save to a temp directory), reformat the card, and place the data back
- try using an older version of the GPS application. You can see the version by going to Start...Settings..System..GPS...GPS - the number below the world map is the version. I know that v2.06 works well.

Thanks for the input. Unfortuantely i dont have a card reader so is there another way to acheive the same thing ?

Also i have checked and i do have GPS 2.09 so were do i download 2.06 and i take it that this will not adversely affect the operation ?

You will need a card reader in the future anyhow. I'd recommend you go get one from your local electronics store.

Send me a PM with your email address and I can send you the 2.06 version

v2.07 is also reliable. v2.08 and v2.09 have lots of issues and are best avoided.

You can download v2.07 here.

To eliminate your storage card as the cause, remove it and using the TomTom installation CD, load a small sectional map (16 or 32MB) into system memory. Take a test drive and report back as to whether this resolves the issue?

If your after a card reader/writer I found this to be good value from amazon at £7.50.

Hama 6 in 1 USB Memory Card Reader.

A lot of good reviews and personnally speaking I have had no problems as of yet.
