c510e V3.2 setting a start point
Hi, at the risk of appearing stupid, can anybody give me a blow by blow
method of plotting a route between 2 points other than my GPS location, seems that when i select a point on the map view and tap start i get the flag, i then select the other point and then tap route it still start me from home (my GPS location)!
Also is the any way of seeing the post code of a destination address shown on the map.
Hope i have made myself clear

Oddly there's no option to do what you want to do in terms of setting a route that doesn't include your current location. Miomap has no option to turn off GPS (although "flyover" mode does this you can't put it to your own use).
The only workaround is to cheat - to block the GPS signal for example by putting your hand over the receiver bloock whilst in a building.
You can't do reverse postcode lookup. |

Just go to Settings - General and set Off-route Recalculation to Disabled. Then enter the start and finish points.

many thanks this works!
but unfortunately the reason I wanted to do this was to check the mileage for proposed journeys from alternative start points, but although i can now do this the mileage to destination is not available in the cockpit view!

No, because as I said in the original response to you you can't set a route that doesn't include your current GPS position without using the cheat of blocking the GPS signal. |

Well using the other method it does appear to plot the route , but no distance displayed , could you clarify the purpose of the start tab/button

The other method is basically the same as covering the GPS receiver with your hand and then plotting a route from a hypothetical start point to the end point.
One difference is that you don't have to reset the off route calculation to on when you've finished :-)
I'm not sure what you mean by the start tab/button. |

Paul, you are trying to do something that the Mio wasn't really designed for. You'll find it much quicker to use Google Maps
