|

I am running Tomtom navigator 5.21 on a Ipaq HP5450 with a windows moblie 2002 Operating System. I have installed CheckPOInt 521 but everytime I select the icon an error message appears 'can't find application' and TOMTOM fails to run. When I run Tomtom directly it does show in the applications menu (i.e. on page 4 of 4) and I can access the CheckPOInt application directly via the Ipaq menu. So, does anyone know why I can't get CheckPOInt to work with this version of Tomtom?
Also, Does this version of Tomtom warn of speed camera ahead without using CheckPOInt. Any suggestions on how I get this working because I doesn't do that at the moment?
Finally, can someone tell what is the best site is for obtaining the latest speed camera database?
Any help would be appreciated |

Bin the CheckPOI application and look at using the in built POI warner, go to change preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI and select the cameras you want to warned of, select each one in turn when configuring the warnings.
If you want spoken alerts (rather than the bells and bongs) have a read through This Page - read it BEFORE you configure the Warn When Near POI though as this will save you time
As for the best site to get the speed camera database from you have found it!
simply look for the "Click Here for speed cameras" box on the right of this page - Mike |

Thanks for you help.
Just a last clarification. It seems to download your speed camera database there is a supscription charge. However, if I download the PioEdit 2007 denote software, it connects to a web site called www.pocketgpsworld.com which then leads to your web site and it appears that I can download your speed camera database for free. Can you please tell me what the difference is?
Thanks |

Thanks | About 12 months of updates, the database you are seeing is well out of date, OK the fixed cameras will still be 75% accurate, the mobile locations even less - do you want to rely on out of date information? - POIEdit is no longer supported by the site for the download of POI information.
You have the option to subscribe to the latest available data set for £2 for a months worth of downloads, or £19 for 12 months, at least this way you will get data you can trust - Mike |
