|
|
Small nit with the speed camera database... I initially loaded the DB with POILoader set to km... And got the alerts at 70km/hr, 30km/hr etc... So I checked the forums, discovered one that said simple, just set POILoader to miles and load... So I did... And the alerts STILL come up at 70km/hour, etc... My unit runs in km BTW, not Miles...
Anyone else seen this? The Garmin is a Nuvi 660 with firmware 3.50. (I'm off to try loading it again, just in case, but it even copied the POI's to internal memory, so I know it updated). |

very common problem, the search button is your friend ;)
make sure you have poi loader set in imperial and not metric then reload the poi's

The speeds in the database are in mph, since it's for UK cameras. I would imagine that, if you want the speeds in kph, you will have to convert them, which could be a very laborious task!
Maybe MaFt has a better suggestion? I think he misunderstood your problem when he posted his reply! _________________ Anita

Would it just be a case of opening the files in Excel and using the replace function to amend all at once the @70 entries to @112 etc?
IF thants how it works. |
I think this should do it, if pasted into cell D2 to D99999 (or at least D10685) of a camera CSV. Unless that "* 1.6" should be a "/ 1.6"?
Code: | =IF(ISERROR(MID(C2,FIND("@",C2)+1,9999)),C2,CONCATENATE(LEFT(C2,FIND("@",C2)),MID(C2,FIND("@",C2)+1,9999)*1.6)) | Then just copy column D & paste special - values into column E, then delete columns C & D. Hey presto! (Maybe 8O ) Best of luck! _________________ Jock

Laborious? Nah. That's what's sed is for. (I'm a Unix person. Forget all this oh my god stuff, stream editing like this is bread and butter).
Yeah, I assumed MaFt just thought another fool who can't search when he posted... No worries Everyone misses reading the second paragraph sometimes. |

Sorry Hamie, my tired and jaded eyes failed to actually read your post...
as others have suggested the best way would be to manually edit every speed. quite laborious
an easier way would just be to set your nuvi to mph...?! or are you based outside the uk?

It's easily done.
I bet ALL the 'regulars' immediately thought "Aha! Standard question!" when they first read the magic words "Garmin, MPH, kmPH" |

If you want to e-mail me the file you want converting I have a little application I have put together using Labview to do this, takes a blink of the eye to run through the whole lot, or try the method posted by BGF above using Excell (I haven't tried that though) - Mike |

My unit runs in km BTW, not Miles... | Ignoring what units you run the Nuvi in, changing the alerts to miles should have worked - the POI Loader converts the camera speeds into a different set of units to send to the unit itself, so it should work whatever units you then select for the locale.
I would try again, with the units set to Feet and MPH before resorting to a convulted method of modifying the files every two weeks. You did select the same location (Nuvi / SD card) the second time didn't you, and you did reboot...? _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |
